1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing the Shanks CPA website and our secure client portal, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms govern your use of our digital platforms and infrastructure. For information regarding how we handle your data, please review our Privacy Policy.

2. Digital Engagement Letter

Use of our professional accounting services and secure portal is further governed by a Digital Engagement Letter provided to you at the start of our professional relationship. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and your signed Engagement Letter, the Engagement Letter shall prevail.

3. Secure Portal Usage

Shanks CPA provides a privately hosted, enterprise-grade portal for the secure exchange of sensitive documents. To maintain the integrity of this system:

  • Credential Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your portal credentials. Any activity under your account is your responsibility.
  • Prohibited Content: You agree not to upload files containing viruses, malicious code, or any content that violates federal or state laws.
  • Authorized Access: You may only access the folders and data explicitly shared with you.

4. Limitation of Liability & Uptime

While we utilize robust, redundant hardware on our privately managed infrastructure, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the portal.

  • Deadline Responsibility: Shanks CPA is not liable for missed filing deadlines resulting from temporary technical outages, ISP failures, or user-end connectivity issues. We encourage clients to upload critical documents well in advance of tax deadlines.
  • Data Integrity: While we perform regular backups, users should maintain their own copies of original documents.

5. Termination of Access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate portal access at our discretion for any user who violates these terms or engages in activity that threatens the security of our infrastructure.
